ROCK SPRINGS – The WWCC Women’s Soccer squad scored a big conference win on Friday as they prepare to play their final home game on Saturday.
The Mustangs beat the ladies of Trinidad on Friday, 3-1. Madisyn Cantrell set the pace early with the only goal in the first half. She scored an unassisted goal at the 40th minute to give WWCC the halftime lead.
A strong offensive attack to start the second half put the match away for Western. MKenie Safford found Maya Perrin in the 55th minute and then assisted on her second goal as Britney Merritt scored in the 57th minute. Trinidad ended the hopes of the shutout late scoring in the 81st minute.
The ladies of Western play their final home regular season contest on Saturday at Rock Springs High School. They host Otero at 5 p.m.
