Western Soccer Heads to Colorado for Road Matches

ROCK SPRINGS – After splitting two games in front of the Green River fans, the Western Wyoming Community College soccer teams will hit the road for two in Colorado.

Both the men’s and women’s team seen success as they opened conference play. The women split while the men beat both Northwest and Sheridan to go 2-0. The teams then had two games in Green River last week against Utah schools.

After losing to Salt Lake Community College to open the season, the Mustangs responded to shutout the Bruins, 2-0. Briston Lowell  and Ty Nielsen scored for WWCC in the win. Snow was able to end the Mustangs losing streak on Friday with a 3-0 win.

On the women’s side, both Snow and SLCC showed why they are two of the best in the nation. Snow beat the Mustangs 5-0 while SLCC won 5-1. Britney Merritt scored the only goal against the Utah schools on an assist from Kenzie Lucas.

The men are scheduled to play Air Force Prep on Thursday followed by a match against Trinidad State on Saturday. The ladies are scheduled to play Otero on Friday before finishing with Trinidad on Saturday. They ladies will be tested as Otero is currently leading the division followed by Trinidad.
