2020 General Election Results [Official]

GREEN RIVER — The 2020 General Election was certainly one to remember with record-breaking absentee ballots and long lines.

According to Sweetwater County Election Clerk Destinee Morison, a total of 16,698 residents voted in the 2020 General Election. Of those, 5,457 were absentee voters, plus 1,626 voters voted at the Sweetwater County Clerk’s Absentee Polling Location. This is a total of 7,083 voters who took advantage of voting early.

The number of absentee voters for the 2020 General Election is a new record for the county, Morison said.

To put this into perspective, 2,048 absentee ballots were received for the 2018 General Election, while 1,984 absentee ballots were received for the 2016 General Election.

This year, the county saw more than either of those General Elections during the 2020 Primary Election with 3,462 absentee ballots.

As for the amount of those who decided to vote this year, is was actually about 600 less than the 2016 General Election. According to information from Sweetwater County Clerk’s Office, 17,309 voters voted in the 2016 General Election.

“We definitely expected a large voter turnout for the 2020 General Election,” Morison said.
