LARAMIE – The Wyoming women’s basketball team will look to continue its winning streak by opening up conference play on Wednesday against the San Diego State Aztecs.

The game is set to tip-off at 7 p.m. MT in the Arena-Auditorium. Live stats, video and audio can be found on the women’s basketball Gameday Central page located on the GoWyo.com website.

The Cowgirls closed out the non-conference slate with a 7-3 overall record and are currently riding a four-game winning streak. Last time out, UW defeated Colorado 77-68 Sophomore Liv Roberts led the way with 13 points followed by Marta Gomez and Jordan Kelley with 12 each.

Kelley also brought down a team-high seven boards. Marleah Campbell, Marquelle Dent and Natalie Baker recorded 11 points while Dent finished her night with eight assists. Wyoming shot 27-of-57 (.474) from the field and 17-of-25 (.680) from the charity stripe.  

Dent currently leads the team in scoring, assists and steals. She ranks first in assists, minutes played and second in assist/turnover ratio plus is third in scoring in the MW. Kelley is averaging 11.3 points and 9.2 rebounds which is third in the league.

UW is shooting 225-of-573 (.393) from the field and 61-of-189 (.323) from beyond the arc this season. The Cowgirls are also outscoring opponents 69.1-63.0 and out rebounding teams 38.3-36.3.

The Aztecs went 5-6 overall during non-conference play and come in with a two-game winning streak. SDSU is led by sophomore guard McKynzie Fort with 15.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per contest. She is followed by Deidra Smith with 6.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. As a team, the Aztecs are averaging 59.4 points and 34.5 rebounds per contest. San Diego State returns three starters and seven letterwinners to a team that went 12-19 overall and 8-10 in the league a season ago.

This is the 51st meeting between the two schools. UW holds a slight edge 26-24. The last time the two teams met was Feb 11, 2015 with the Cowgirls coming away with a 74-66 victory. SDSU is coached by Stacie Terry who is in her third season with the program.
