ROCK SPRINGS – Although the Sweetwater County Community Health Center has been serving and seeing patients for a couple of months now, the clinic had its official ribbon cutting celebration on Thursday.
Members of the Rock Springs Chamber of Commerce and city officials greeted supporters, clinic employees and members of the health clinic’s board of trustees, welcoming them to the community.
Rock Springs Mayor Carl Demshar presented the clinic Chief Executive Officer Luis Alvariza a key to the city. Demshar said while Sweetwater County has good health care services, the new clinic will help fill those gaps we have in the community.
Alvariza said while Thursday was a special day for the clinic moving forward, it is really not about him but rather the amazing staff, clinic board members and supporters who traveled long distances just to be there for the ceremony.
“This is all about the community,” Alvariza said. “We know there is a need out there in the community and we are here for those people who have health care needs. We get support every day and this is a total effort by so many.”
The clinic is located on Commercial Way next to the Loaf N Jug and is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. The clinic also uses a sliding fee scale for those who cannot afford health care. For information call or visit the Sweetwater County Community Health Center.
