ROCK SPRINGS — The Rock Springs City Council unanimously approved a resolution authorizing the repayment of $1 million borrowed from Northeast Wyoming Regional Airport which was used to complete the construction of the Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport’s snow removal equipment building.
During tonight’s Council meeting, the Council approved the transfer of $1 million from the Southwest Wyoming’s Regional Airport to Northeast Wyoming Regional Airport.
According to the resolution, in 2020 the City of Rock Springs and Sweetwater County borrowed $1 million from the Northeast Wyoming Regional Airport and $1 million from the Riverton Regional Airport to construct a snow removal equipment building at the airport. This will be a partial repayment of the funds loaned for the project.
Earlier today, the Sweetwater County Commissioners unanimously authorized the repayment as well. During the Commissioners meeting, Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport Director Devon Brubaker said the 2022 entitlements will be allocated to paying back the Riverton airport.
Brubaker also said this is an administrative transfer, meaning no actual money changes hands at the local level.
Other Business
The Council unanimously approved a resolution allowing the City of Rock Springs to ask the Joint Powers Water Board to obtain a loan on the city’s behalf from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund for its 33 percent share of the Green River, Rock Springs and JPWB Pump Station Project. The project will include the design and construction of pumping facilities and transmission pipeline.
