SWEETWATER COUNTY — The Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a stabbing that took place Sunday morning at the Bitter Creek rest area on the Eastbound side of Interstate 80.

According to a release from the sheriff’s office, the deputies were dispatched to the rest stop at about 3:27 a.m. When deputies and a Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper arrived, they found a man who had been cut and stabbed multiple times. An ambulance transported the man to Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. No further information about the man was available as of the publication of this post.

The alleged assailant left the rest area in a tractor trailer combination and was later located in Rawlins and arrested by the Wyoming Highway Patrol. The rest area will be closed until Thursday afternoon.
