Familiar names topped the leaderboard at the Rock Springs Invitational; Lady Tigers finish strong again coming in fourth

ROCK SPRINGS – While many of the favorites in 4A golf continued to lead the way, the Rock Springs Invitational may have given fans a glimpse into the future of 4A Golf.

The favorite on the boy’s side, Riverton’s Easton Paxton continued to top the leaderboard. At the Rock Springs Invite, Paxton had to hold off charges by Laramie’s John Murdock and Kelly Walsh golfer Drew Petrie to win. Paxton shot a 139 while Murdock and Petrie finished the day with 140.

Pinedale’s Jordan Cosello continued his strong early season play finishing in fourth with a 143. Green River was paced by Brock Ortega while Garret Phillips was the top Tiger as they both shot 155 at the Invitational.

On the team side, Riverton continued to set a blistering pace for the rest of the state. As a team, Riverton shot a 598 which was 23 shots better than second place Cheyenne Central. The Rock Springs boys finished in eighth while Green River finished in tenth.

On the girl’s side it was all Natrona’s Eryn Ellis who won the opening tournament as well. She shot a 148, eight strokes better than second place Bailee Watt of Kelly Walsh. The Lady Tigers were very consistent as a team. Rock Springs was paced by Mckenzie Kroupa who finished in 15th while Callie Cox was right behind in 16th. Lyndzie Kroupa finished in 18th while Shaylee Zampedri came in 20th and Kaylen Taucher finished in 24th.

The Lady Wolves were led by Sidney Mandros who finished in 21st and Kelsey Barton who came in 24th.

On the team side, The ladies from Natrona continued to dominate. Natrona shot a 482 while Evanston came in second, 72 strokes behind Natrona at 554. Rock Springs finished fourth while Green River came in sixth.
