GRPD Continues Investigating Possible Craft Fair Scam

GREEN RIVER — Green River Police Department (GRPD) officers are investigating a possible scam where a person seeks payments for vendors wanting to reserve their spot for an upcoming craft show at Expedition Island Pavilion. There’s just one problem; it appears no such craft fair has been scheduled.

According to a social media post from the GRPD today, they have received reports that an individual posted information seeking vendors for an upcoming craft show on March 18-20 at the Expedition Island Pavilion.

Once vendors contact the individual, the scammer requests a $45 fee for reserving a spot, to be paid with PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, or Zelle.

“Officers have verified with the City Parks and Rec. Department that no reservations have been made for those dates,” according to the GRPD.

The department is asking residents to be cautious when giving out personal information or making payments in these situations.

“It is a good idea to verify events before making payment arrangements,” the GRPD stated.
