GREEN RIVER — Two Green River youths donated a portion of their root beer float proceeds to Green River Animal Control Friday afternoon to help out with caring for the animals.
Cade Myers, 9, and Avery Kirkwood, 10, made $146 Friday selling root beer floats and they both decided they wanted to donate some of the proceeds to a good cause. Between the two of them, they decided Green River Animal Control was the best place for the money.
When asked why they donated to the animal shelter, Kirkwood said the reason is simply their love for animals.
“Dogs need things,” Kirkwood said. “I love animals.”
Green River Animal Control Officer and Director Tracy Wyant said the money will help the shelter buy some treats or toys for the animals.
Myers and Kirkwood kept some of the money to split between them and to use for supplies for their next root beer float sale, and donated the rest.
