ROCK SPRINGS — The Organization Committee of the Rock Springs Main Street/URA is pleased to announce their December Volunteer of the Month – Alice Paul.
Alice grew up in Rock Springs and has many fond memories of Downtown including seeing movies at the West Theater, Parker Bros. Drug Store, Hett’s and Union Merc to name a few.
Before and since retiring from Sweetwater School District #1, she became involved in the URA. According to Alice, “It has been a wonderful experience – meeting new people and renewing old acquaintances.”
Alice currently serves on the Organization Committee for the Rock Springs Main Street/URA and has helped with a variety of projects and events including the URA Ball, Chocolate Festival, Halloween Stroll, Polar Express, Letters from Santa, Rods and Rails, Sweetwater Blues and Brews, Community Pride Awards, Downtown Christmas Parade and Kentucky Derby Party.
“Rarely will you attend a URA event and not see Alice’s smiling face there to greet you,” URA manager Chad Banks said.
The Rock Springs Main Street/URA is charged with the redevelopment of Downtown Rock Springs. As part of their mission, there are four standing committees – Economic Restructuring, Organization, Promotions and Design. The Organization Committee plays a key role in keeping the Board, Committees, staff and programs of work in good shape by attracting people and funds for the organization.
