Tell us a bit about yourself…

I am a lifelong resident of Wyoming, born and raised in Evanston, Wyoming.  14 years ago my wife, Heidi and I settled our roots in Sweetwater County.

I have 4 children Jorie (husband Cole), Kaden, Kamilyn and Jakob.  I also have two amazing grandkids Addisyn and Graycin that also call Sweetwater County Home.

Over those 14 years we have had the opportunity to build amazing friendships, serve the community on various boards,  organizations and service projects.  We proudly calll Sweetwater County Home.

My entire professional career has been working for non-profits that focused on providing opportunities to individuals with intellectual disabilities and acquired brain injuries.

This has been a challenging, yet rewarding career that has helped me build leadership skills, fiscal management, problem solving, outside of the box thinking and an ability to find ways to maximize quality of life for the folks we serve in an environment with continued diminishing funding and higher levels of oversight.

I also love the streams that flow through our county and the fly fishing it allows me to enjoy, cooking for others (specifically on my grill and smoker) and I love sitting in the stands and cheering (or coaching) my kids in everything they do.

What makes you the best choice for County Commissioner?

My life has been dedicated to service to others.  Whether this is professionally, serving on local boards and organizations, helping at Church and/or coaching youth sports, I have always found myself involved.

I have always found a way to make whatever I am doing about how it affects others and not make it about me.

Throughout my involvement I have always worked with integrity, honesty, enthusiasm and dedication.  I think those characteristics would make me a successful commissioner.

If I am elected commissioner it won’t be about me, it will be about me working with the 4 other elected Commissioners and multiple elected officials to ensure the success of Sweetwater County.

What do you hope to accomplish in your first year as County Commissioner?

The number one thing will be to develop a greater knowledge regarding learning the statutes that govern the Commissioners.

If I am elected there will be a large learning curve that will need to be accomplished in a short period of time to ensure the County continues forward in a positive manner.

During the election period I have met with current elected officials and various entities/organizations that receive community funding to develop a greater feel of those departments and entities roles in the county government.

Continuing to develop this knowledge and relationships will be essential to have a successful transition as a first year commissioner.  A few other important goals I would like to accomplish are:

1.  Develop a regular set of office hours and open times I am available to the citizens of Sweetwater County.

2.  Develop relationships with individuals throughout the entire county.  I want to have a presence throughout Sweetwater County.

3.  I want to end my first year knowing I held firm to my beliefs and represented the citizens of Sweetwater County with integrity and trust.  Throughout my tenure of Commissioner I will make decisions that not every person will agree with.  This could include friends, fellow commissioners, supporters, elected officials and the community at large.  As those decisions are made and the opinions are different I want to ensure that I treat others with respect and knowledge that even though I believed different I still respected their opinions and listened.

4.  Work with collaboration, strategic planning and a willingness to think outside of the box to diversify Sweetwater Counties economy.  Economic diversity will occur when all of the local entities are on the same page and working towards the same goals and outcomes.

5.  Evaluate the budget using a systematic approach rather than across the board budget cuts.utilizing an interactive process with the elected officials and other entities receiving county funding and analyzing their budgetary needs will allow us to effectively cut the budget thorough prioritization and a focus on ensuring an efficient and effective budget.

6.  Analyze the current technology and systems being utilized in the county and determine if there are more efficient and effective ways to streamline the processes using systems and technology.
