ROCK SPRINGS – The Rock Springs Tigers made the most of their first home playoff game since 2002 as they defeated the Laramie Plainsmen, 37-15.

Matt Fowler finished with 240 yards on the ground, and Oaklan Jenkins went over 100 as a big second half iced the game.

The Tiger defense was key stopping the Plainsmen several times.

Mason Randall also had a big interception late to put the game out of reach.

Rock Springs opened the game with a strong drive but turned the ball over on downs after holding the ball for the first eight minutes.

Rock Springs got the ball right back, and Fowler opened the second half with a 55-yard run to put the Tigers on the board first.

Another drive in the second by Rock Springs would end in a field goal. Right before the break, Laramie fired a pass for a score to cut the lead to three at the break, 11-8.

The Plainsmen continued to ride the momentum to start the second half, and a quick score had Laramie up 15-11. Jenkins responded with a big run on third down on the ensuing drive and Fowler capped it to give

Rock Springs the lead back late in the third.

In the fourth, the Tigers pulled away. After a stop by the Tigers defense, Jenkins found Marcus Kalista through the air to set up a seven-yard score from Fowler.

Again, the Tiger defense forced a turnover on downs, and Fowler scored his third of the half to ice the game. Laramie made one final push, but an interception in Tiger territory by Mason Randall dashed any late hope of a comeback.

Rock Springs got the ball back one final time on the night and with a minute remaining. Jenkins found Kalista through the air from 37 yards out for the final score of the night.

The Tigers will now go to Sheridan for a spot in the state championship game.

The Broncs won a tough fought first game between the two teams.
