Western Basketball Hosts Gillette Wednesday Night

ROCK SPRINGS – TheWestern Wyoming ladies will look to make in eight in a row while the Mustangs will shoot to end a two-game losing streak Wednesday night as the teams host Gillette College.

The women are coming off a big win against rival Casper that moved the Mustangs into first place in the conference. Dora Goles led the team in the win with 22 points, six assists and five rebounds in the game. Savannah Hunter had 14 points and seven boards while Irene Garrido Perez finished with 11 points and nine rebounds. 

Gillette comes in with the same conference record as the Mustangs, 9-1 in conference and 17-6 overall. The Lady Pronghorns only conference loss was at the hands of Western as the ladies beat Gillette at their house 72-69.

Mustang Men

The men have dropped their last two including a heartbreaker against Casper. The T-Birds hit a jumper with only seconds remaining to take the win, 72-71. The Mustangs had four players in double figures led by Callum Lawson who finished with 24 points and six rebounds. Tyrell Isaacs finished with 14 points while David Thorton finished with 12. Jalen Krening provided a lift for the Mustangs off the bench with 11 points on the night.

Gillette enters the game on a nine-game winning streak and currently leads the North Division. The Mustangs matchup well against the Pronghorns and played well against them last time out. Western came up five points short on Gillette’s home court on Jan. 21, 70-65. Gillette has only lost two games all season.
