Winter Storm Watch Issued for Sweetwater County this Weekend

SWEETWATER COUNTY — The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Sweetwater County starting Saturday afternoon, March 13.

According to the announcement, Sweetwater County, specifically Rock Springs, Green River, Flaming Gorge, and east Sweetwater County; can expect winter weather impacts through Sunday afternoon on March 14.

“Heavy snow” is possible in Sweetwater County with snow accumulations between 2 and 5 inches. Residents can also expect a northeast wind between 15 to 30 mph with gust up to 40 mph to accompany the storm. A high of 35 degree is forecasted for Saturday and Sunday. “Plan on slippery road conditions. Blowing and drifting snow could significantly reduce visibility. Whiteout conditions will also be possible,” according to the NWS.

“Interstate 80 and other major highway will be impacted by this storm,” the NWS is predicting.
