GREEN RIVER — After just five quick days of practices, the Green River High School tennis teams are already getting into the swing of things. The Wolves’ first practice was last Monday and they took to the court for the first time on Saturday against powerhouse Jackson Hole High School.
The debut was a split decision for Green River. The girls’ team won two of the three doubles matches to pull away for a 3-2 win over the Broncs.
A thrilling victory in No. 3 doubles sealed the deal for Green River. The tandem of Shelby McFadden and Emmie Archibald split the first two sets against Jackson before storming back to take the third and deciding set for an exciting 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 win.
The GRHS boys, fresh off one of their best seasons this decade, were not as fortune. The team was edged in both singles matches and Jackson prevailed 4-1 for the team win.
