LOVELL – The Green River Knights will be battling to keep its season alive on Thursday at the American Legion Single A State Tournament.
The Knights are waiting to see if they will face Wheatland or Evanston which is going on now. The Green River game starts at 4 p.m. Wheatland beat Evanston on Tuesday to open the tournament, 5-1.
Green River opened the State Tournament against host team Lovell and won in a close one, 6-5. On Wednesday, the Knights had a tough challenge against Cody. The Cubs are considered the favorites and showed why as they shelled Green River, 16-1.
Thursday morning, the Knights again faced Lovell with the winner advancing and the loser calling it a season. The Knights trailed Lovell 8-4 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning. Down but not out, Green River fought back to even the game at eight and force extra innings.
In the bottom of the 10th and with two Knights on base, Isiah Munoz steppted up to the plate, Munoz gave the ball a ride with a walk-off three run home run to get the win.
If the Knights win the 4 p.m. game on Thursday, they will play at 1 p.m. Friday for a spot in the title game.

Green River vs. Evanston/Wheatland winner – 4pm loser out
Cody Cubs vs. Gillette Rustlers – 7pm Winner to championship
Friday, July 24
Thurs. 4pm winner vs. Cody/Gillette loser – 1pm loser out winner to finals
1pm winner vs. Cody/Gillette winner – 5pm Championship.
Since it’s a double-elimination tournament, if a rematch is needed, it will be played on Saturday, July 25 at 1pm.
