ROCK SPRINGS – Patricia J. Oja 79, of Rock Springs, Wyoming passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2013 in Rock Springs, Wyoming. A long time resident of Rock Springs and former resident of Colorado, Mrs. Oja passed away following a brief illness.
She was born on November 19, 1934 in Greeley, Colorado, the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Ralston.
Mrs. Oja attended schools in Eaton, Colorado and was a 1952 graduate of the Eaton High School. She also attended Colorado State University.
She married John Oja in Greeley, Colorado on November 1, 1958 and he preceded her in death on June 1, 2009.
Mrs. Oja and her husband were the owners and operators of Library and OJ’s Groceries for forty-eight years.
Her interests included golfing, entertaining friends, cooking, snowmachining and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Oja’s team placed 6th in the nation in the American Cancer Society Tournament in 2002. She was a member of the Rolling Green Country Club for thirty years and held the club championship in 2001. She played in various four-some groups with the State Senior Wyoming Golf Association, she was a winner in her age group. She also hit three holes in one.
Survivors include two sons Mark Oja and wife Janis of Bozeman, Montana and Mike Oja and wife Lisa of Clarkston, Michigan; one daughter Charla Silvia and husband Bob of Atlanta, Georgia. Her sister-in-law Doris Radman of Rock Springs, Wyoming; six grandchildren Byron Oja and Conor Oja of Clarkston, Michigan, Ethan Oja and Adam Oja of Bozeman, Montana, Alex Silvia and Leila Silvia of Atlanta, Georgia; one cousin Kenny Conradson of Greeley, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Our Lady of Sorrow’s Catholic Church, 116 Broadway, Rock Springs, Wyoming. A vigil service with rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. on Monday, December 2, 2013 at the church. Interment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 4:00 P.M. until time of rosary and on Tuesday morning until time of services.
