CHEYENNE — The Wyoming Democratic Party will hold its biannual state convention this week, May 16-17 in Rock Springs, WY at the Holiday Inn Rock Springs hotel. This event will be the largest gathering of Democrats in Wyoming this election year. There, attendees will hear remarks from Democratic elected officials, candidates and special guests as well as the adoption of the Party’s platform by delegates.
Wyoming Democratic Party Chairman Pete Gosar had this to say: “Our theme for this weekend is welcoming diversity and the rising Wyoming electorate. It’s time to get Wyoming back on track and fix its broken political system. We have a lot of work to do and this year’s State Convention is the perfect place to start. It’s time for Wyoming Democrats to start moving Wyoming forward.”
The convention kicks off Friday night, May 16th at 6:30 PM with the Sweetwater County Democratic Party’s welcome reception and wraps up Saturday evening.
Former Secretary of State and Rock Springs native, Kathy Karpan, will address delegates during the convention luncheon.
World-renowned social justice activists and Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, Dolores Huerta, will headline the convention banquet.
While only delegates can vote on matters before the convention, the Democratic State Convention is open to the public and all are welcome to attend.
“I am thrilled to have Dolores Huerta and Kathy Karpan address our convention and I am excited to put their words into action this election year,” said Chairman Gosar.
